Welcome

Welcome to my website. I am a poet, writer, editor, and scholar, based in Liverpool. I am a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Liverpool John Moores University. I have published poetry, reviews, academic articles, a monograph, and (co-edited with Bryan Biggs) an illustrated collection of essays and creative writing celebrating the centenary of novelist Malcolm Lowry (see Publications for more details, and Poems to read some of my work). My first full-length poetry collection, Missel-Child, was published by Carcanet in January 2014 and shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry Prize for First Full Collection 2015.

My short collection Telling the Fractures, a collaboration with designer and photographer Alan Ward, was published in 2008. My poetry was included in the Carcanet anthology New Poetries V, in the Salt anthologies Best British Poetry 2013 and Best British Poetry 2014, and in the Forward Book of Poetry 2015. I have a new pamphlet coming out from HappenStance Press later this year. I am happy to take part in readings and festivals, so please get in touch via the Contact page if you are hosting an event and looking for poets. You can follow me on Twitter @helentookey1.
